Strengthening Mental Health in Duk County
1. Introduction
Smile Charity South Sudan implemented a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) project in Duk County to address the growing mental health needs within the community. The initiative focused on providing counseling services, promoting psychosocial well-being through recreational activities, and raising awareness about mental health as a fundamental human right.
2. Key Activities and Achievements
2.1 Counseling Sessions
Smile Charity South Sudan conducted two counseling sessions targeting 5 clients in Duk County.
Outcome:
Improved emotional stability among clients
Increased awareness of personal mental health needs
Strengthened coping mechanisms
2.2 Recreational Activities – Football Matches
The project organized two football matches between two schools as part of psychosocial support interventions.
Outcome:
Enhanced peer interaction and unity
Improved mood and overall well-being among participants
Encouraged positive engagement in school environments
2.3 Mental Health Awareness Campaigns
Two awareness campaigns were conducted with a total attendance of 50 participants:
Male: 30
Female: 20
