Angels of Hope are here for the long haul!

Angels of Hope Delievering Aid
Angels of Hope Delievering Aid

Kidsave continues to provide vital humanitarian aid to villages in Ukraine. In late December, our Angels of Hope delivered essential supplies and services to villages in the Mykolaiv region. They installed a water filtration system, bringing clean water to a village of 150 children. They also distributed holiday gifts to children, and repaired homes to provide warmth.

The community was overjoyed to now have access to clean drinking water and no longer need to rely on Kidsave’s water deliveries. They joked about being able to cook delicious borsch, a traditional Ukrainian dish, with clean water. The community expressed gratitude to our Angels of Hope for their unwavering support in such a difficult time.

One mother and her son, whose father died in the war, cried and said, "Thank God that you are helping us to live. We will pray for your team!"

Kidsave has also purchased an additional water filtration system for another Mykolaiv village, which will enable more families to return home and rebuild.

In February, our dedicated volunteers, the Angles of Hope, visited a small village where only two families reside, amidst the devastation of destroyed homes. They repaired a wall in one house to provide warmth and delivered essential supplies to another village in the Mykolaiv region. This included providing 102 children with clothes, food, toys, medicines, and school necessitiesThe children were attending school online since the schools were closed, and approximately 25 of them were suffering from illnesses like pneumonia, ear infections, and sinusitis due to the extremely harsh winter conditions. With no shops, pharmacies, or medical care available in the village, the residents are entirely reliant on humanitarian aid for basic needs.

The Angels of Hope have also been actively supporting Mykolaiv communities. In just one week during March, they packed and transported food packages that fed over 1,769 people at the local Family Support Office.  Additionally, they delivered furniture, computers, and vegetable seeds to support education and sustainable living in remote villages. They also delivered vegetables, such as onions, carrots, and potatoes, for planting and have provided seeds to 2,740 families in 22 villages for planting!

On April 1st, the Angels of Hope delivered a significant shipment of humanitarian aid to one of the cities we support. This included 250 boxes generously donated by European supporters, containing vital supplies such as resuscitation kits and medicines for cancer patients at the village hospital - enough to help around 300 patients. So far, our Angels of Hope have evacuated over 31,000 people to safety and delivered over 2,700 tons of humanitarian aid across Ukraine since the start of the war. Kidsave has been working in the country since 2016 and remains committed to helping rebuild Ukraine long after the war.

Along with Kidsave’s humanitarian aid efforts, we have launched a “Supermentors” pilot project. This initiative empowers youth who have completed the Corporate Mentoring program to become leaders and drive positive change

These young people are actively participating in the reconstruction of Kidsave Miracles Centerlearning new skills and contributing their time and efforts to building a safe place for Ukrainian orphans where they will find loving families.

Supermentors have also participated in the humanitarian mission delivering food, clothes and other essential items to the villages that suffered from occupation and shelling. Additionally, Supermentors are receiving “Trauma relief self-help kit training” to provide support and coping strategies to vulnerable children and youth.

As the war continues in Ukraine, it is challenging for young people—especially orphans and children without families—to maintain a sense of purpose. Initiatives like Kidsave’s Corporate Mentoring Program, Pathway to Success, are crucial, as because they recognize the vital role that positive adult guidance plays in shaping the futures of displaced and vulnerable Ukrainian youth.
