As winter sets in across Ukraine, families in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions face growing challenges. Kidsave has stepped in not only to deliver necessary supplies but also to provide hope and security to those in need. Over the past three months, our humanitarian aid efforts have reached 16 villages and the city of Mykolaiv, making an incredible impact on hundreds of families affected by the ongoing conflict.
Since October, we have distributed food, clean water, and medical supplies to meet immediate needs while expanding our efforts to address the challenges of winter. This includes providing firewood pellets for heating, materials to repair damaged homes, and warm clothing and bedding to help families stay safe during the cold months. In October and November alone, Kidsave volunteers delivered over 381 tons of aid to remote villages, including food for more than 7,300 families, clothing, toys, 290 tons of fuel briquettes, and 68 tons of fresh vegetables.
One of the families we support is a grandmother who is raising her grandson after his parents abandoned him. She lives on a small pension and struggles to care for him. When she comes for help, her sadness is clear.
Another family, a mother raising three children shared their story. Her 16-year-old daughter recently gave birth to a baby who required special care and formula. Their home, left exposed to the winter cold without a front door, was barely livable. Thanks to the continuous support, Kidsave was able to supply formula and install a new door, ensuring the family could stay warm and safe.
The needs remain immense. Families and children are asking for warm clothes, scarves, hats, socks, blankets, flashlights, generators, and fuel briquettes to survive the winter. Many live in damaged homes without power and urgently require construction materials to repair roofs and walls, ensuring their shelters are safe.
Kidsave’s Children and Family Support Center continues to provide displaced children with emotional support and moments of joy through various activities, while volunteers like Christopher deliver medical supplies, hygiene kits, and equipment to hospitals, offering much-needed care to countless families.
Your help can make a real difference. A $20 donation can provide warm clothing for a child. For $100, you can supply a month’s worth of food for a family. A $250 contribution delivers heating supplies to a home, and $500 can repair a roof or walls, giving a family a safe place to stay.
