With the new regime in Afghanistan, girls above grade 6 are no longer allowed in schools. The Afghan Institute of Learning came up with a solution during this crisis, Meraj Academy; A televised curriculum for grade 7-12 created by Dr. Sakena Yacoobi with AIL in collaboration with her private TV station TV Meraj. School is now accessible to all of Afghanistan, keeping the door of education open to girls.
Once the Taliban returned to Afghanistan, any NGO's that were in the country were shutdown, girls trying to get an education had a difficult time receiving it. Afghan girls above grade 6 could no longer go to schools and were forced to stay at home. Risking to go to school was not possible because of how dangerous the situation had become in Afghanistan. If half of the population could not receive an education, society in Afghanistan would not grow and would keep the country in the past.
Not only does this give girls the chance to receive an education from home, it has given access to parts of Afghanistan where education was never really offered or accessible , leaving no child behind without the opportunity for a brighter future for the next generation of Afghanistan.
Women and children that receive an education will be able to effectively help their societies needs and wants, and allowing to empower women because women are half of the population that live in Afghanistan. This allows women of having the freedom of no longer being oppressed, although it is not a traditional classroom, Dr. Yacoobi has made it possible under every or any circumstance for girls to continue learning.
