Challenge

On September 19, 2017, two earthquakes struck Mexico, leaving an immense devastation in 5 different states. The population is suffering from physical and emotional trauma, children in schools have problems of anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Stress and negative emotions trigger neurotransmitters which cloud thinking process and highlight impulsive responses and instincts. From September'2017 - May'2018 we worked with 6,500+ people from these states delivering Trauma Relief program.

Solution

For long-term impact and to help 1000's of people to overcome post-traumatic stress, we need to train youngsters to become Trauma Relief leaders in their own communities. This program has specific tools endorsed by World Health Organization & United Nations, that helps overcome post-traumatic stress disorder and enhance communities by uplifting human values and strengthening social tissue. Learning simple breathing tools help disaster victims regaining self-confidence, deep sense of peace.

Long-Term Impact

The project will train 80 young leaders in Puebla and Morelos giving them tools & practice to deliver 'Trauma Relief Program' in affected communities to reduce post traumatic stress disorder. After the training we will provide coaching to them to lead Trauma Relief workshops This program will benefit 3000 people each year for the first two years. Breathing techniques in stress and crisis allows the system to recover normal physiological metabolism, strengthen creativity & social interaction.
