Summary

We aim to help 500 families who suffered from the devastating Michaung Cyclone that brought heavy rains in chennai in 2023. No food, or electricity. Chennai has come to a standstill. We provide basic needs to 5 low lying villages, which are submerged in water and we will provide food, water, hygiene kits, utensils, ration kits to 500 households, housing support and livelihood to 50 families, and delivering psychosocial support to 6 village children and rebuild their lives with dignity and hope

Challenge

The Michoung Cyclone was a catastrophic disaster that brought heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, India in 2023. It destroyed their homes, crops, infrastructure, and livelihoods. The impacts were severe, resulting in a humanitarian crisis, with people facing food insecurity, water scarcity, hygiene issues, and loss of income. The cyclone also caused trauma and stress on children and women, affecting their mental health and well-being. The affected families need immediate relief.

Solution

This micro project supports the 500 cyclone-affected families near chennai, Tiruvallur & kancheepuram districts of Tamil Nadu, India. The cyclone destroyed their houses, crops, infrastructure and livelihoods. The project provides them with food, water, hygiene and other ration essentials. It also helps them restore their income sources and cope with the disaster. The project also offers psychosocial support and protection to the children and women who faced trauma, violence due to the cyclone.

Long-Term Impact

This micro project not only meets the immediate needs of the 500 Michoung cyclone-affected families, but also empowers them to rebuild their lives and resilience. By providing them with food, water, hygiene and other essentials needs, ensures their health and well-being. Restore their income sources, the project enables them to recover their livelihoods and economic security. By offering them psychosocial support and protection, the project fosters their mental health and social cohesion.
