Training local women saving groups in Tororo

By Henry Okumu | Project Leader

Savings Help Women Support Children's Education
This quarter, women saving groups continued to play a vital role in helping families finance children's education. Members used savings and loans to pay school fees, purchase uniforms, and acquire learning materials.
Many women reported that participation in savings groups allowed them to plan educational expenses more effectively. Instead of struggling to find funds at the beginning of each school term, they were able to draw from savings or access affordable loans.
The financial stability created through savings groups reduced the likelihood of school interruptions caused by lack of fees. Children remained in school and continued learning without disruption.
Women expressed pride in their ability to contribute directly to their children's educational success. Several mothers highlighted improved academic performance resulting from consistent school attendance and access to necessary supplies.
Savings groups also encouraged discussions about the importance of education and long-term planning. Members shared strategies for balancing household needs while investing in their children's futures.
The positive impact extends beyond individual families. Increased school attendance contributes to stronger communities and improved opportunities for future generations.
We thank GlobalGiving donors for supporting initiatives that enable women to invest in education and create brighter futures for their children.
