Empowering Students with Lifelong Mental Health Skills

By Team Bumi Sehat Bali | Project Leaders

Dear Friends,

Recently, our Youth Mental Health Team held two workshops in local schools. The topics ranged from bullying, emotional well being, mindfulness, understanding emotions, empathy, supporting friends and creating a safe school environment. Here are some highlights of our two recent workshops:

14 April 2026 – Mental Health Education, SMAN 2 Sukawati, Gianyar

Two hundred Grade 10 students took part in a mental health education program designed to strengthen emotional awareness and help-seeking skills. Through case studies and guided discussions, students explored how to recognise when someone may be struggling and where to find support, including friends, family, school counsellors, and mental health professionals. One student reflected that, "Sometimes a person doesn't need a solution—they simply need someone willing to listen." This powerful insight captured the session's focus on empathy, active listening, and creating supportive communities where young people feel safe to seek help.

26 May 2025 – Bullying Prevention & Emotional Wellbeing Workshop, Bali

Fifty students from Grades 4–6 participated in an interactive workshop exploring emotions, empathy, and positive friendships. Through games, discussions, and reflection activities, children learned to recognise emotions in everyday situations and understand how kindness and respect help create safer school communities. Many shared that being a good friend means listening, avoiding teasing, helping others, and considering how their actions affect classmates. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful participation showed a growing awareness of empathy and positive social behaviours—important skills that help prevent bullying and build emotionally healthy school environments.

Our team's experience shows that young people are eager to talk about emotions, relationships, and mental wellbeing when they are given a safe, supportive space to do so. Your generosity makes these conversations possible. Early mental health education can reduce stigma, encourage young people to seek help before problems become crises, and empower students to support one another with compassion and understanding. Every workshop plants seeds that can grow into greater confidence, stronger friendships, and improved mental wellbeing—creating lasting benefits not only for individual students, but also for their families and communities.

Thank you for your continued support.

With love and gratitude,

Ibu Robin Lim & Team Bumi Sehat
