Minimize indoor smoke pollution for women health

Summary

Because of extreme poverty Nepalese rural poor are unable to purchase LP gas or gasoline to cook their meal. They mostly use fuelwood collecting from forest and rural women have the major responsibility to cook the food in kitchen. This project provides Portable cook-stove to 700 women who work in kitchen of rural area of Makwanpur and chitwan district of Nepal. The project will improve the combustion efficiency of fuel wood to reduce smoke and harmful emissions that affect health.

Challenge

Many of the Nepalese still rely on conventional fuel wood fire stoves for cooking their daily meals which further deteriorates their life standard. Smoke is the result of the incomplete combustion of biomass fuels, which leads to emissions that are affecting to human health. Hundreds of dangerous chemicals are produced as a result of this incomplete combustion in households. The substances have great impact on the human immune system which makes people suffer from chronic respiratory disease.

Solution

This project solves the problem of indoor smoke pollution by counseling and providing Portable cook-stove to 700 women. The project will promote the use of improved cooking stoves to raise the living standard of the rural women and to protect the environment. Project will be supported on raising awareness among the community people towards adopting the environment friendly technology for cooking. Project will be distributed sapling of various tree species for the protection of environment.

Long-Term Impact

The project will provide Portable cook-stove to 700 rural women. The long-term impact of this project will be improved health of the women and children. They will benefit acquiring better health. Indoor smoke pollution contributes to the adverse impacts on human health and ecosystem. This initiative will be minimized negative impact of indoor smoke pollution and improve the better health. Thus contribute to their proper growth and overall fight against diseases/death.
