Mirai no Mori & KIWL: Charity Ride Season is Here!

By Kozue Oka | Executive Director

We’ve reached the exciting month of the KIWL Charity Cycle Ride, a four-day ride taking place from May 29 to June 1! So far, the campaign has raised $10,559, and we’ve already enjoyed a few inspiring touchpoints between the Knights in White Lycra (KIWL) and the youth we serve in the lead-up to the big event.

KIWL & Mirai no Mori BBQ at Mitake
The Mitake barbecue has become a cherished tradition- a moment to express our gratitude to KIWL and to foster deeper connections between riders, Mirai no Mori staff, and the youth we serve.

“We’re lucky to see firsthand the growth of some of these amazing young adults, whether it’s starting university, continuing their studies, or entering the workforce. As KIWL, we are privileged to hear about their journeys directly from them, which makes everything we do feel even more meaningful.”

Back to Nature Programs: Kicking Off a New School Year
Our monthly Back to Nature programs are now underway!

This year’s first event, an Easter Game Day, was held on Easter Sunday and welcomed 37 campers from five different care homes, including at least one camper from every school grade. With the Japanese school year starting in April, this was the perfect time to celebrate new beginnings.

“The children in my charge changed in April, and I am currently working on building a good relationship with them. The Mirai no Mori program was a great opportunity for me to just have fun with the children, and bring that connection back to our everyday life.”
- Care worker

We are deeply grateful for your continued support. Together, we are building a brighter future for marginalized children in Japan.
