The Pacific Destrampe project will strengthen the personal and cultural identity of a group of approximately 50 girls, boys and adolescents, during a period of 5 months, from the Colombian Pacific region, where despite the violence, we will implement workshops that promote emotional expression, vindication and cultural appropriation via dance and scenic arts, having a psychosocial accompaniment in a transversal way. A theatrical musical will be the end result of the process for the community.
Ladrilleros has a wide biodiversity and unique species that are not found in other regions. However, well-documented is its abandonment by the State in matters of health, education, housing, nutrition and public services, among others. Additionally, the Public Policy development plan, corresponding to said municipality, does not take into consideration the safety and well-being of the population who are subject to problems like violence and the sale and trafficking of children and adolescents.
Given this, "The Pacific Destrampe" is a program that has been working for more than 9 years with children and adolescents in the region, through a volunteer program that bases its action in the performing arts as a vehicle for cultural education, and empowerment, being a preventive proposal against imminent social vulnerabilities, based on the advances made in previous research (Colciencias 2012 young research grant, Dance Body and Memory 2013; Research in dance 2016, and empiric experience).
In the long term, the children of the community that are part of our program will have a different vision about their role within the community, will have more tools to exercise positive leadership, and will be able to structure life projects different from those of illegal activities. We hope in the long term to build a cultural center that is a meeting place for artistic creation and also for the creation of peaceful solutions to the problems of the community.
