Thousands of children live on the streets without guidance, education, or care. This project will recruit and train 50 volunteers to mentor street children in Nigerian urban areas. Volunteers will meet regularly with children to provide basic learning, social support, and life direction. Donations will help train volunteers, supply learning kits, and cover transport costs to reach the children where they live.
Street children in Nigeria face daily risks including hunger, violence, and lack of education. Many have lost parents or fled abusive homes. They live without adult care or safe spaces. As a result, they are often pushed into crime, drug use, or begging. Most have never had a teacher, mentor, or even someone to ask how they are doing. Without any support, they are left to survive alone.
This project will identify and train 50 local volunteers who understand the street environment. Each volunteer will mentor a small group of children, meet them in safe locations, and guide them through weekly learning, games, and care. Volunteers will track their progress and connect them with food, school, and basic care. The goal is to build steady adult contact that helps each child feel seen, heard, and supported.
Children mentored through this project will have trusted adults they can talk to and learn from. With steady guidance, some will return to school, avoid street gangs, or find safe places to live. Volunteers may also grow into community leaders through their work. The model can be expanded to new locations as it grows, creating a growing network of support for children currently forgotten in city streets.
