Liberian Family Health Care & Education Update
By Bisi Ideraabdullah - Bisi Ideraabdullah
Greetings friends,
It is time for Imani House, Inc. to update you on the latest actives and thank you for all your continual support. Over the past three months your contributions have help to sustain our Liberian Family Health Care and Education initiatives in one Africa’s poorest economies...Liberia.
Our health related programs targets mainly Liberian women and infants, who represents a highly underserved population in the country. During this reporting period the Liberia was hit with a strike by health workers due delayed salary payments. for staff working in governmental health facilities. Imani House Clinic staff were not affected but it did tax our resources as more women and children searched for quality health care during the work stoppage at our doors. Our patients were in dire need of health care doing the “go slow strike” in Liberia as IMANIH HOUSE remained open and accessible to many. Your past support is an important part of the reason our clinic survived for the last 25 years and we appreciate YOU!
Since our last report we served more than 3,000 mothers and children in our Child and Maternal Healthcare facility. We are now starting to expand our clinic services to surroundings communities to give opportunities to mothers and children to be screened diabetis, high blood presure, prenatal check without having to come into the clinic.. This is done from our Ambulance for now. and is a resumption of our initiative to take heath to the community.
Our Women's Health Education Manual Project continued in September as new school year was launched. We have two sites currently that we will continue to teach primarily our market woman who make up the bulk of the students in our classes that resumed in September after the long vacation.
Training of high school and junior high students which had been reported on in the past, is yet to start. However, we will re-startup the teen peer educators training in Monrovia Consolidated schools, The plan as in the past is to provided workshops on proper waste disposal and sanitation, infectious disease prevention, reproductive health and other health related topics as we did during the last school year. The Health Manual project still continues, as we to do outreach and health talks in communities as well, providing vital health information to adults
We ask you please to continue to partner with us to provide these valuable services, or join us if you being introduced for first tine visitor to the IMANI HOUSES.PROJECT. I hope you will make our cause your cause!
Sincerely
Bisi Ideraabdullah
