Dear friends,
This update differs from our regular submission as it revolves around monitoring and visitations to project sites and reports covering other administrative duties of our management team on the ground. These reports should generally be submitted routinely on a biweekly basis. They are solely to give a synopsis of the day-to-day operation of the Clinic and other programs. We intend to use this month's report as the backdrop of the quarterly update for this period.
The Clinic Over the past two weeks, the total value of drugs dispensed was less than 100 USD, and at the end of the period, the Clinic generated a total of 900 USD as income. This is a part of our efforts to make the Clinic self-sufficient and less dependent on your donations. Within this amount, the laboratory-generated more than half of the income for this last period as we continue to fight to win back our patients' numbers experience before the EBOLA and COVID-19 pandemic hit Liberia.
Administration site visit made recently also observed some major maintenance that needs urgent attention. It was also observed that the two central doors required urgent attention. The front door at the old Clinic faces the PM office, and the front door at the current Clinic. The lock on the current front iron door is completely damaged. The lock on the main door is good but cannot lock due to the damage caused by the termites on the frame. Therefore, we need to repair the door frame or a new frame and lock for the iron door, plus welding work for the Old Clinic building. The termites damaged the frame completely. We need a new frame for the door.
Clinic ground grass cutting has begun. The rainy season is now in Monrovia. The first cutting for April has been completed. Subsequent cutting will be needed in the coming months, including May 2024.
We quickly looked at the Literacy Program and noticed that classes are ongoing at both sites. Ramadan students have returned. Monthly servicing work on the VOA generator that provides the electricity for the night classes is expected in May 2024. The total enrollment at St. Mary is 13 students with one tutor, Mr. Gabriel Santee.
Level one has four students, level two has two students, level three has four students, and level four has two students. Students at St. Mary have completed the 5th central evaluation and are now beginning the 6th primary evaluation. Likewise, the current enrollment is 39 students. Level one = 11 students, Level two = 9 students, level three 12 students & level four = 7 students
Administration: Continue daily monitoring at the Clinic by office staff is ongoing. Upon receiving the organization's tax clearance and submission at MOH, MOH finally released the organization's sectoral clearance on April 26, 2026. The business certificate is yet to be received. Organization Accreditation. MOFDP NGO Coordinating Unit has moved to a new system for submission of requirements. That is an online submission. Yesterday I was at the NGO Coordinating Unit Office now located behind the Internal Affair Ministry on Capital Bye Pass to do submission. At the submission, I was told that the unit has a new online submission system, and our staff needs to be trained. We must transport the inspection team to our office to teach us how to do the online submission. View our staff and provide work permits for non-Liberia staff. After the training, the submission will be made immediately at the office. If we waste time, an LRA will charge us a penalty.
Finally, in closing out this report, we would like to share another testimonial from one of our patients who usually attend our Clinic. We shall call this lady Madame Q, and her baby is Javan. She is 30 yrs. old, and the baby is a healthy one-month-old. Madame Q is an Imani House Clinic regular patient who came to the Clinic recently to express her thanks and appreciation to the Clinic's OIC/Head Nurse, Mrs. Annie C, and the
clinic staff for her safe delivery. She gave birth to this bouncing baby boy at the John F
Kennedy Memorial Hospital based on Imani House Clinic advice and instructions during her prenatal exams.
Here is her "Success Story":
"My name is Madame Q. I live in Moulton Corner, Brewerville, Montserrado County (Liberia). From the beginning of my pregnancy, at two months, I started taking treatment at the Imani House Clinic, especially with the Head Nurse, Mrs. Annie, who usually attends to pregnant women every Wednesday of the week. At seven months, I came to the Clinic as usual and was advised by the Head Nurse that the child in my belly was giant and, at the time of delivery, I should not go
to any clinic or at home with any midwife in the community but rather go to the government's big hospital, John F.
Kennedy Memorial Hospital (JFK) or Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town.
At nine months again, Mrs. Coleman and other clinic staff reminded me to give birth in the
hospital where an operation would be carried out, not in clinics... C-section is the only way out for me, and as such, I should be mindful. When the time came, my family and I, including my husband, followed the instructions, and I was taken to the Redemption Hospital. The doctors at Redemption Hospital tried their best but could not make it and said I needed an operation,
Immediately, an ambulance took me to JFK Hospital, where a successful C-section was
conducted, and I was able to give birth to a bouncing baby boy. My baby's name is Javan, and we
returned to the IMANI HOUSE Clinic today for 2nd vaccine. My primary reason for not taking the vaccine at any other clinic but Imani House Clinic is to express my appreciation to Mrs. Annie and the rest of the clinic staff who stood by me during my pregnancy. My special thanks also go to the owner of IMANI HOUSE Clinic and my husband, who was always with me until I gave birth. Thanks be To God for my child and IMANI HOUSE!"
The above is another example of our staff's dedication to delivering the best possible care and health education to our patients so they may experience a better quality of life. We hope you appreciate our sharing of this story, as it is one of many we will be sharing on an ongoing basis.
