Support Liberian Family Health Care and Education

From January 2025 until now, Imani House Liberia has served over 2,000 people, with a focus on women and children. Operating in the Brewerville area for more than 30 years, our clinic provides accessible and affordable healthcare, filling a critical gap in a country facing high maternal and child mortality rates.  We offer the lowest-cost services among private healthcare facilities in the community ensuring that essential medical care is available to a population often constrained by limited resources.

Imani House and its supporters are collectively honoring the universal human right to accessible healthcare with dignity. The organization’s ability to uphold this moral and ethical mandate is made possible by the continued support of its donors. With this backing, the clinic remains a steadfast resource, particularly for those who can barely afford the basics of food and shelter but require urgent health services.

This work is especially vital given the significant challenges within Liberia's healthcare system, which is burdened by inadequate infrastructure and a shortage of skilled personnel. Imani House's provision of affordable and reliable care directly contributes to the government’s goal of reducing maternal and child deaths. By doing so, the organization not only offers immediate medical assistance but also promotes a mindset of healthy living within the community.

After eighteen months of being shut down due to a lack of funding, the Imani House Liberia Literacy Program is celebrating the reopening of one of its two literacy class sites; VOA Literacy Center. Our St. Mary’s School Literacy Center remains closed due to inadequate funding. Thanks to a one year grant from Plenty International and the determined efforts of Executive Director Mrs. Bisi Ideraabdullah and Liberia Literacy Coordinator Mr. C. Wiah James, our VOA site classes officially resumed on September 15, 2025. The reopening is a testament to the organization's unwavering belief in the foundational importance of literacy, which it views not just as a means to a degree but as an essential life skill. Despite being able to reopen only one of its two centers, the Imani House team pressed forward, demonstrating their deep commitment to empowering the community through education and upholding their vision of a literate Liberia. This moment is not only a celebration for the students and tutors at the VOA Center but also a renewal of hope for the broader community, affirming that basic education remains a top priority for Imani House, regardless of the challenges faced.

Together, we are addressing the Universal Declaration to Human Rights by respecting the fact that everyone is entitled to the highest attainable standard of health, encompassing access to essential health services, information, bodily integrity, and freedom from discrimination, regardless of social status

Thanks to your support, we continue to honor our moral and ethical mandate to provide affordable healthcare.  While also providing access to general healthcare, our clinic specializes in maternal health.  Liberia faces significant challenges in maternal and child health, including high mortality rates and limited access to quality care. These challenges are exacerbated by a fragile healthcare system, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of skilled health personnel.  

Liberia is dependent upon private health care centers to mitigate the wide gap of limited healthcare access among its citizenry. Imani House Clinic still offers the lowest cost for services of all private health care facilities in the Brewerville area. Since January 2025 until now,  we were privileged to serve 2000+ persons, mostly women and children.  We are filling in the gaps of government’s goal to reduce maternal child deaths in which Liberia has one of the highest in the world. 

It is a joy to follow our maternal patients from prenatal to post natal care!  The picture of one of our recent deliveries summarizes our healthcare goals.  The young mother in the picture lives in our community and literally walked a few blocks from her house while she was in the last stages of labor.  She is one of our many patients and what a joy to receive her in our clinic and deliver her baby boy.  Great outcomes like this are what we prioritize.
