By MAHMOUD O; IDERAABDULLAH | CO-FOUNDER/PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR LIBERIA
Dear Imani House Family,
If at any point in the past you have donated any amount, you automatically become a member of the IMANI HOUSE FAMILY. We thank you for your continued interest in our Liberian Projects and the work we continue to do as we approach our 39th year of humanitarian work for the Liberian people. We are so happy to bring you our latest update.
The most exciting news is that our Founder and Executive Director, rs. Bisi Ideraabdullah recently arrived in the country to assess program operations and do annual training in staff development. Sister Bisi will also review local fundraising efforts to strategize how to get more Liberian donors in the diaspora to support our efforts to reach more Liberians countrywide.
Another exciting news is that we have received a small grant from Friends of Liberia to support renovating our too-important Triage Center at our clinic. The Unit was first added on to our main clinic Building at the height of the EBOLA Pandemic by CONCERN INT’L, The materials used were bamboo, plywood, and tarpaulin for the wall.
Over the passing years, the termites and the weather have taken their toll, and we desperately need to improve the structure. With support from the Friends of Liberia, we can replace a very worn structure with a more durable and lasting structure made of cement blocks The original materials were bamboo, thin plywood, and tarpaulin for walls. The work will start soon.
With your support, we would be able to add the following emergency room equipment to improve the treatment of our emergency patients in our Triage Center;
a) Oropharyngeal airway
b) Ambu bag 0r manual resuscitator/self-inflating bag
c) Oxygen tanks
d) Automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
e) Epinephrine autoinjector (or adrenaline autoinjector, by the trademark EpiPen)
We welcome donations of all medical equipment above, but not limited to the above.
The last news to share with you concerns new eye screenings that IMANI HOUSE initiated during this period in partnership with New Eye Center, a local NGO. The greater Browerville community in rural Liberia will benefit as eye exams, eyeglasses, and eyedrops will be provided routinely in the future. During our first eye screening campaign, we were able to serve over one hundred patients ( men, women, and children) in a single session’ Because eye care is also in big demand, the screening campaign was a great success.,
We always appreciate sharing our work and applaud each of you for your continued giving to aid this wonderful work we are carrying out in one of Africa’s underdeveloped countries. I hope you can continue this support as we advance. Thank you so much!
