Greetings all,
We are so thankful to Global Giving for their attention and response to the devastating Ebola outbreak in West Africa. We extend our gratitude to all who have supported us and continue to support during these troubling circumstances.
It’s important to us that we keep supporters updated about the Ebola virus in Liberia. Sadly, each day seems to bring more bad news. Nearly 1,000 people have died in West Africa, and the number of confirmed cases continues to climb. Liberia has seen almost 300 deaths at the time of this update. Unfortunately, education efforts on the ground are being met with resistance in some affected regions. We’re also very concerned about the apparent shut-down of infrastructure in Liberia, including healthcare facilities, and the pulling-out of international organizations.
The population our clinic serves is becoming increasingly vulnerable to the virus. Neighboring hospitals and clinics are closing and healthcare professionals are staying home. Our intention is to remain open and to continue providing regular care to women and children. Because of Ebola, we’ll need to convert our auxiliary clinic space into a temporary isolation unit. Your donations will help us make some necessary renovations to this space.
We will continue to update you with news from the clinic, and from Liberia in general. Thank you so much for your support. We cannot and will not lose hope.
Warmest regards,
Bisi Ideraabdullah
