New - Mobilization of Imani House Health Services to Rural Liberians

By Bisi Ideraabdullah | Executive Director

Thanks sincerely for all of your support and encouragement as we work together for the improvement of access to health care for the children, women and families of Liberia.

The Ebola crisis created an urgency that can never be ignored again. With the deaths of 4,808 people in Liberia alone; the infection of 10,672  people and a continuation of new cases in neighboring Sierra Leone and Guinea, Liberians remains in jeopardy.

IHI Mobile Health Care Services to rural areas where clinics and health care are mostly unavailable.  The need for this service is uncontested.  According to WHO, Liberia whose has a population of 3.8 million people, but only has 51 doctors and 5,000 health care workers. Our staff reported to me that one woman had walked 6 hours to reach our clinic with a sick child.

Healthcare is a human right that can be acknowledged and responded to. Please visit our updated appeal on Global Giving and your support to this important effort.  It will allow us to provide full service treatment including; immunization, post and prenatal care, treatment of infections and infectious diseases, and public education that will can eradicate the possibility of Ebola or other infectious diseases taking hold of Liberia again.

News and Updates: The Imani House Ambulances are on the ground in Brewerville, Liberia; Imani House in collaboration with the Liberian Ministry of Health and Concern, an international NGO, is now an official Surveillance, Response and Isolation Center that is a part of a chain of centers created to thwart the spread of Ebola; The IHI Clinic is up and running to serve its community; Our triage and isolation unit renovation is nearing completion; we are activating at least one of our ambulances as a mobile health unit that will visit at least 3 village a week to provide health services, the other ambulances will be used to service other clinics, the hospitals in Monrovia and will transfer medical emergencies as needed.  Note: Liberia has very few ambulances, even in the capital city.

We’d appreciate your continued support especially given the cost of our health care expansion which includes the Mobile Health Services. We are hopeful of expanding this service over time and expecting that others will imitate our efforts to bring better health care to all Liberians.

Thank you for your continued consideration and assistance.

Warmest wishes,

Bisi Ideraabdullah

Executive Director
