1. Project Title

Monthly Scholarship Program for Poor School Children – Sri Lanka

2. Introduction / Background

Education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty. However, many school children in Sri Lanka face financial difficulties that prevent them from accessing basic educational needs such as books, stationery, uniforms, transport, and extra classes.

To support these children and encourage them to continue their education, our organization has launched a Monthly Scholarship Program to provide financial assistance to poor school children across Sri Lanka.

3. Project Description

Currently, this project supports 50 school children from different parts of Sri Lanka.
Each selected child receives a monthly scholarship of LKR 5,000 to help cover their educational and basic needs.

This financial assistance is aimed at reducing the burden on families and motivating children to continue their schooling without interruption.

4. Objectives of the Project

  • To support poor school children with monthly financial assistance

  • To reduce school dropouts due to financial difficulties

  • To help children meet basic educational needs (books, stationery, uniforms, transport, classes, etc.)

  • To encourage continuous school attendance and better academic performance

  • To promote equal access to education across Sri Lanka

5. Beneficiaries

  • Number of children: 50

  • Location: Selected areas across Sri Lanka

  • Target group: Poor and vulnerable school children from low-income families

Children are selected based on financial background, school verification, and genuine need.

  6. Regularly communicate with parents and schools to track progress

8. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monthly follow-ups with parents/guardians

  • Periodic confirmation from schools about attendance and progress

  • Maintain beneficiary files with student details and payment history

  • Review the program every 6 months to assess impact and improvements

9. Expected Outcomes

  • Improved school attendance

  • Reduced financial burden on families

  • Better access to learning materials

  • Increased motivation among students

  • Reduced school dropout rates

  • Long-term improvement in educational outcomes

10. Sustainability of the Project

The project aims to continue through donor support, sponsorships, and community contributions.
Future plans include:

  • Increasing the number of beneficiaries

11. Conclusion

The Monthly Scholarship Program is a meaningful initiative that directly supports poor school children across Sri Lanka. By providing consistent financial assistance, this project helps children continue their education with dignity, hope, and opportunity. Investing in these children is an investment in the future of the country.
