Mujeres en tecnologia en ANIMA: una brecha persistente en formacion e insercion laboral

In the last two graduating cohorts (2021 and 2022), there were a total of 89 graduates: 41 in Administration and 48 in ICT.

Among the 48 ICT graduates, 11 are women and 37 are men. This means that only 23% of ICT graduates are women, highlighting a significant gender gap in the program.

Employment Status: Women vs. Men

Below is a breakdown of the employment situation of the 11 female ICT graduates compared to the 37 male graduates (including relative proportions for comparison):

  • Actively seeking employment
    • Women: 4 out of 11 (36%)
    • Men: 11 out of 37 (30%)
  • Not seeking employment
    • Women: 2 out of 11 (18%)
    • Men: 7 out of 37 (19%)
  • In formal jobs with no growth opportunities
    (i.e., positions with limited or no career progression)
    • Women: 2 out of 11 (18%)
    • Men: 7 out of 37 (19%)
  • In quality jobs with growth opportunities
    (i.e., positions with potential for career advancement)
    • Women: 3 out of 11 (27%)
    • Men: 9 out of 37 (24%)
  • Informal employment
    • Women: 0
    • Men: 2
  • Recently unemployed (job loss)
    • Women: 0
    • Men: 1
Employment Details – Female Graduates

Out of the 11 female ICT graduates, 5 are currently employed (2 in jobs without growth opportunities and 3 in quality jobs).

They are working in the following organizations:

  • 2 in IT roles
    • Evertec (quality job)
    • Neocoast (quality job)
  • 1 as a teacher
    • Santo Domingo School (quality job)
  • 2 in formal jobs without growth opportunities
    • One in a bakery
    • One in a supermarket
