Greetings from Pattaya. COVID-19 has affected the Tamar Guest House “new building project”. Thailand had closed businesses; street vendors; beaches; bars; and entertainment venues. Because of this, many women had been left homeless and without food, we, at Tamar Center, refocused all our energy on creating food packages for these hungry women and their children. Currently, Thailand is in phase 5 of reopening. Most businesses have reopened with restrictions, so many people have returned to work. Bars and entertainment venues are supposed to reopen on 1 July with restrictions, but since tourists will only start coming back in a few months, customers will be scarce.
We believe that now is the time to purchase our guest house, remodel, and open before tourists come back and Pattaya totally reopens! So, we are restarting our fundraising for the Tamar Guest House. We currently have about 6M THB in our bank account for the new building. Pre-shutdown, the owners of the building offered it to us at 21M THB which we knew was too high based on the valuation we had done. During the shutdown, they called and lowered their price to 19M. In order for us to enter into negotiations, we want to raise an additional 3-4M THB or about $100,000.
So we will restart our fundraising with the GlobalGiving Bonus Day on 15 July. Please join us in reaching the goal of 3-4M THB. If you donate on Bonus Day, GlobalGiving matches a percent (%) for any gift between $100 and $1000.
Join our opportunity of turning the”Grey to White” by donating and helping us help more women in Pattaya Thailand.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
