This project will purchase basic disinfectants and medications to prevent contamination of Covid19 to at least 2000 residents of Moshwani Payan Village. The clinic is an out-patient primary clinic, providing internal medicine, pre- and post-natal care, birth control, dental, vaccinations and minor surgery - GRATIS - the residents of the 9 communities of Moshwani Payan Village, 35-40 miles from Kabul, Afghanistan. The village has approximately 9,000 inhabitants. Average patient visit is 60/day.
The outbreak of the pandemic is an added burden to the clinic staff, diagnosing patients and teaching them and the community proper ways to avoid contagion. Patients are taught facial masks, disposables not available; the clinic provides the communities with soap and diluted alcohol solution (cost of 1 soap bar is $0.20). As it is the clinic is in dire need of first aid medical supplies incl vitamins and iron. Majority of patients are women with their children, most suffer from malnutrition.
Given the delicate patient situation and rudimentary condition of the clinic and its environment, both staff and patients are openly vulnerable to the Corona Virus contagion. The aim is to raise $5,000 in donations to purchase the basic disinfectants and medications that can be purchased at low-cost in Afghanistan so that at least 2,000 of the clinic's patients can ward off virus transmission.
