Zahida's story
By Rubina Husain | Administrative Assistant
SHINE Humanity’s mission is to provide quality primary healthcare to underserved communities. A strong primary healthcare system goes a long way in detecting diseases and prevents complications that may result in hospitalizations.
Without access to primary healthcare to provide a diagnosis and treatment, an illness which can be easily treated can progress and become a much greater burden for hard working families who may already be struggling financially.
Zahida was recently brought to our clinic by her husband who could not understand what was happening to his wife. Zahida had always been very active and hardworking but for the past few weeks she was experiencing fatigue and fever. Her symptoms included shivering and sweating with intense body aches and some vomiting as a result she was becoming weak and mostly bedridden.
SHINE Humanity doctors conducted a few tests and she was diagnosed with Malaria. With timely care Zahida greatly improved over the next few weeks and she was soon back to her normal self. Her family was extremely grateful for the accessibility of healthcare without having to travel to a big city.
SHINE Humanity is grateful for your donations which can guarantee someone a healthy life. We have ten primary healthcare clinics in Sindh which provide free healthcare to the under-served.

Jaan Mohammad's escape from the floods
By Rubina Husain | Administrative Assistant
Jaan Mohammad was rescued by a SHINE Humanity team. His family had to suddenly leave their village when torrential rains made their home uninhabitable, they were found sitting on a dry patch of land surrounded by ever rising flood waters.
Thousands of villagers in Sindh were displaced when unprecedented floods devastated huge areas of farmland. Some like Jaan Mohammad were marooned for days. Carrying just a few meagre possesions and without access to clean drinking water or food, they huddled together in the hope that someone would rescue them.
Due to its unique location SHINE Humanity has been able to mobilize emergency camps to provide medical aid and hot food to those in need. Our team of two doctors and a pharmacist along with a security officer and volunteers have traveled to flood affected areas in Sindh and to date they have set up 61 medical camps and provided immediate relief to 8500 displaced villagers. 97% of the patients treated at these camps are women and children.
Jaan Mohammad and his family were already poverty stricken and mal nourished. The impact of being displaced further aggravated their health conditions. They like many others treated by our Doctors had skin conditions as well as chest and stomach infections.
We are so thankful to our donors whose generosity have allowed SHINE Humanity to continue its mission of providing healthcare to underserved communities.

Irrum's story
By Naila Ahmed, Ayesha Mohammad | Executive. Director, Assistant Project Supervisor
Women in rural Pakistan live hard lives, looking after large multigenerational families, suffering through early and multiple pregnancies, with little to no nutritional support for self and no downtime to look after one's own health and wellbeing.
This often results in the women putting off any health issues to the background while trying to take care of the whole household.
Irrum* was married off at a young age and by the time she was 25 had already given birth to 4 children. She started feeling lethargic and weak by her mid to late 20's but put off showing herself to a physician as she was too preoccupied with her daily routine.
By the time, she got around to showing herself to a physician she had developed wounds on her feet that were not healing, unfortunately gangarene had set in and the doctor had to remove her big toe.The Physician diagnoses was advanced stage Diabete Mellitus with an A1C of 15.4. It was obvious that long time neglect had taken it's toll, the only recourse was now to put her on insulin medications to manage the progression of the disease.
Coming from a low income family she was finding it hard to manage her finances, especially when it came to procuring medications on a regular basis. When she found out about SHINE Humanity/Garibson's clinic, she immediately enrolled herself in our Hypertention, Hyperlipidemai and Diabetes Program.
Running successfully for 18 months, this program allows patients to get expert conslutations, medications and lab testing done free of cost.Supported by our partner Husaini Trust, we have screened over 550 patients and enrolled about a 100 in our Diabetes Program. All are recieving advanced level of care at the hands of our physicians.
Your donations have made it possible for us to treat Irrrum and women like her who selflessly put their own lives at risk in order to rasie families.
We look to you for your continued support,
With Gratitude,
