Challenge

Our world is more connected and yet more divided than ever before. Technology and media create a sense of false knowing and contact with people in different countries and communities. That sense creates unfounded bias' and judgement and stops us from truly connecting with others. This false knowing creates a division that is far more dangerous than ever before. We now have the ability to end lives and destroy communities with the press of buttons. We have to come together as humans to stop it.

Solution

When people see murals they feel connection to fellow humans, a desire to volunteer to help others, elevated happiness, calmness, less negative risk-taking and greater life satisfaction. Murals reduce the crime rate by approx 18% and elevate a community. It is suggested as the best crime deterrent by stimulating a sense of connection to others. 100 murals in one day brings 10,000s of humans together to connect and leave a permanent reminder of their togetherness for them and the whole world.

Long-Term Impact

100 areas of Los Angeles will be safer places to live. 100 communities will be bonded to each other and feel a sense of pride for their city and themselves. A more interconnected community and safer streets will significantly reduce the crime rate - saving lives and lowering the number of vulnerable youth entering the justice system. "When people have a true sense of 'ownership' or connection to the places they frequent, the community becomes a better place to live, work, and visit."
