Yun is a 3 years and 5 months old girl. She has motor, cognitive, and language developmental delays. Her elder brother is a disabled child who has been served by our Day Care Center already. She joined our class in November, 2017 and transferred to Day Care Center in April 2018.
“I found Yun has motor and speech developmental delays at age 2. She didn’t make any progress in the kindergarten. In the beginning in TFCF, Yun could neither understand any instructions from teachers nor learn from classmates. However, she was attracted by the musical activities. Thus I knew that Music Therapy was a really positive way to help my girl.
Yun is getting better in the class and TFCF also gives myself time to enjoy being a parent. I thank you for giving me this opportunity to be a happy parent. All I learn from the class helps me increase positive interactions with my children. Thanks again for all the amazing project to developmental delay children.”

As we know that parents of children with delays typically report more parenting stress than parents of typically developing children, we hope to support and improve their parent-child interactions. We found that music therapy as an intervention could promote mutually responsive orientation and recognize the positive effects of music therapy intervention on parent-child interaction, parent stress, and parent-child relationship in families with developmental delays children. Even it may take a long time to help children cool down and stay calm at the beginning, parents could learn about the process of music therapy and how it works. Then they will be able to help children develop at home.
There are around 70 children who receive the benefits from this project every month. We are grateful for the support we have received from you and local volunteers.I want to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I'm offering these early wishes here and going to prepare Christmas events for our children soon in TFCF Taichung City Child Development Center. See you next year!
