Mon Mon is a 3 years and 8 months old girl who is a developmental delay child with moderate intellectual disability. She experiences repeated seizures and had brain surgery, and she has developmental delays in motor, language and cognitive skills. She has joined our class since September 2018.
“I can't bear to think about my granddaughter's future since her mother died about years earlier. She is not a normal child and even could not move or walk well. Her father has to work in Taipei and Mon Mon can only stay with me in Taichung. I remember that Mon Mon could only crawl across the classroom and she was unable to stand up or sit well in class last year. I appreciated all teachers were very patient with Mon Mon and spent lots of time guiding and reminding her step by step. I was so surprised to see that the music therapy class is a magical healing to developmental delay children. I am grateful to TFCF and you for helping Mon Mon, so I will never give her up. I am so happy to hear that Mon Mon can say 'Grandma' and a few words now, and I believe she is going to move forward further. Both Mon Mon and I enjoy staying in the center and I am so touched and expecting to see her changes in the future.”

When children have developmental delays in motor, language and cognitive skills, we have to keep telling the guidance and demonstrating the action for a longer time. We know that it is hard for them to respond immediately, and music therapy is really helpful to assist children to learn positively. Children will be attracted easily by various musical instruments then participate and enjoy in the musical activities. Our developmental delay children always learn simple motor skills from the beginning in class and it is really critical for them to sit, stand and walk by themselves. Even we have a long way to go, we are thankful to have your support of our music therapy programs and we are going to assist more children and families as Mon Mon and Grandma. Thank you again for your generous donation and partnership.
Wish you all the best!
With gratitude,
Wen Hung
