By IsraAID Myanmar | Emergency Team
In March 2025, two successive earthquakes caused widespread destruction in Sagaing, Mandalay, and Southern Shan regions of Myanmar. Affected communities were already coping with years of instability, flooding, and interruption of basic services, while the impending monsoon season threatened to hasten the spread of waterborne diseases even further.
From April to December 2025, IsraAID's Emergency Response Team - made up largely of local humanitarian professionals - reached 40,000 people in some of the worst affected areas with water systems, innovative sanitation solutions, essential relief items, mental health and stress relief workshops, and in-school hygiene and sanitation installations.
We designed systems together with local communities to meet local needs and respond to the unique challenges remote communities in Myanmar face. As our emergency response concludes, our repaired boreholes, water filtration systems, innovative bio-septic sanitation systems, and school handwashing installations will leave communities with the resources they need to protect their own health and wellbeing, while our trainings and community work will ensure that local communities have the knowledge and skills they need - now and for the next disaster.
Thank you! All of this was made possible by your support.
