Thank you for standing with our partners in Mingun during an unimaginably difficult year.
Our partner school in Mingun was just a few miles from the epicentre of the earthquake. The area, in Sagaing Region, has also been at the heart of the resistance to the military coup and soon after the earthquake the community suffered a series of airstrikes that destroyed the school entirely. In the midst of this devastation, they reached out to us for help.
Thanks to your generosity, the school community is now able to relocate around 40 miles north away to a much safer area north of Mandalay. Here, they hope to re-establish themselves within the grounds of Tree Lake Monastery School, a peaceful, green setting where classrooms and a school hall are already in place.
The new school will provide a home for 25 children who have lost their families, with safe dormitory accommodation on site. It will also open its doors to around 100 out-of-school children living in nearby villages, offering them a chance to learn again and regain stability.
Your support has made this life-changing transition possible.
Thank you for helping this community rebuild hope and opportunity.
