Dear Friend,
Thanks to your generosity, the new primary school has now opened and is already making a difference. The school provides a place to live and learn for the 25 children evacuated from Mingun. And since opening its doors, a further 147 local children have enrolled, All 172 children would have been out-of-school otherwise because of conflict, displacement and the destruction caused by the earthquake.
Located in the grounds of Tree Lake Monastery School, around 30 miles north of Mandalay, the school is providing a safe place where children can learn, play and regain a sense of stablity.
For these children, education is about far more than lessons. It brings routine, friendship, hope and the chance to look towards a brighter future.
None of this would have been possible without the support of donors. Thank you for helping 172 children return to learning when they needed it most.
Celia, on behalf of the Tekkatho team
