The project aims to empower socially excluded youth with and without disabilities economically for self-reliance as well as community development in general through training in making and selling of flower vases. To ensure sustainability the project will assist in establishing cooperative that will be managed by themselves as one way of job creation. This is to complement to government equalization of opportunities policy 2010 as well as on Sustainable Development Goals.
Bangwe in Blantyre district Malawi is one of the crowed townships where more socially excluded youth with and without disabilities are living idle and below poverty lines. This is enhanced by community's negative attitude impose on them, this has led to high social exclusion on economic activities, human rights violations and self accusations. As a result most of these youths resorted into street begging, prostitution, alcohol and drug abuse contributing to low productivity and infertility.
Upon implementation of the project it is expected that, the target group will spend most of their time in producing and selling flower vases, creating own employment, improving their art, supporting their families financially and creating partnership with cooperate world. Through these positive activities, there will be; (a) reduced over pendency in economics, (b) improved economic participation, (c) increased capacity in business management, (d) reduced malpractices (e) changed community
The project long-term impacts will be; - Establish an infrastructure -training centre and show room for continued flower vases production and training sessions to increase income. - Formulation of cooperative to ensure financial self supporting. - Creat sustainabled partnerships with business cooperate world - Improve community financial status through engagements as the cooperative agents.
