Impart Employable skills to 1000 school drop outs

Summary

We focus on the very needy children many of whom have not had the chance to attend school or dropped off early for a variety of reasons. We shall impart skills through the skills development centers to be established. Others will be attached to independent professionals for mentoring. This will enable them lead successful lives. We hope to skill up to 1000 persons every year and we need about $50,000 mainly to acquire equipment.

Challenge

We have a high rate of poverty in the Busoga sub region. Because of poverty of parents the very needy children have no chance to go to school or drop out early at various levels. Consequently they lack employable skills and cannot engage in gainful employment. They are therefore condemned to a life of perpetual poverty, crime and prostitution.

Solution

This project will impart skills to the uneducated, the school dropouts and all those interested through skills development centers to be set up in ICT, Fashion and design, Hairdressing and Handicrafts. Other candidates will be attached to independent professionals for mentoring in other fields like Bricklaying, Carpentry and Joinery, Welding and metal fabrication , Art and design, Music and Drama, mass communication etc. We hope to skill up to 1000 persons every year.

Long-Term Impact

The vicious circle of poverty will be broken as 1000 persons every year will be removed from the jaws of poverty by being equipped with employable skills to be able to compete on the job market and above all be able to employ themselves. Prostitution and Criminality and their attendant effects will be history. This will increase the economic worth of the individual persons and the overall socioeconomic development of the country.
