A project of Reaching Hand called 'Namma shale', which means My School in Kannada, aims to empower government schools by digitising schools to provide inclusive education in the following ways: - 1. Quality education by supporting teachers on a temporary basis. -2. Developing minor infrastructure in schools. -3. Providing stem labs, computer labs & digital panels etc.-4. Providing necessities like bags, water bottle etc. -4. Conducting co-curricular activities for holistic development.
Reaching Hand works with more than 50 rural Government Schools especially that are located near slums and villages. The areas being remote. Here more than 200 underprivileged children do not have an opportunity of good quality education. Due to poor infrastructure facilities, lack of sanitation, insufficient or inadequate teachers', students drop out of schools and there is an increase in absenteeism. Poverty is also another reason that they are unable to continue their studies.
Reaching Hand has been working with government schools and the community so that underprivileged students can be in par with other schools in the vicinity. Some of the problems we will be solving are : -1. Reduce school dropouts. 2. Students will have access to basic necessities like school bags, books, water bottles & stationery. 3. By providing minor infrastructure students can have a good learning environment. 4. Help plan and conduct curricular activities for students' holistic development.
Over the past few years, we have observed that children have improved their performance at school by almost 100% in attendance and in academic performance. There has been a significant change in school dropouts. Now government school students have started to use 21st century technologies. By digitizing schools' students now have access to a better education. Also, Students have benefitted through Reaching Hand's Scholarship to continue their studies & pursue their dreams.
