Dear Friend,

The program aims to enhance health awareness and improve healthcare-seeking behavior in remote areas, focusing on children, mothers, and adolescents. It seeks to increase health and hygiene knowledge, reduce reliance on traditional healers, and promote long-term health benefits for the community.

In this context, we would like to share the story of Bachu Nepali ( name changed) , a 30-year-old resident of Soru Rural Municipality-2. Bachu lives with her husband and three sons, relying on farming and occasional labor for their livelihood. As an active participant in various health programs by Phase Nepal, her journey highlights both the challenges and the crucial support provided by our program.

During her recent pregnancy, Bachu adhered to the regular ANC pattern, taking 180 iron tablets, 1 Albendazole tablet, and receiving the TD 2+ vaccine. She completed the 4th and 8th ANC visits but did not undergo video x-ray, blood, and urine tests.

On 19th June 2024, Bachu was admitted to Natharpu Health Post with complications during delivery. She experienced difficulties in labor, and the baby had meconium staining in the uterus. Birth asphyxia and PPH occurred, with significant blood loss and a second-degree tear.

Three staff members (two from Phase Nepal and one from the government) provided critical care:

  • Monitored vital signs of both mother and child.
  • Informed the family about complications.
  • Administered uterine massage, urinary catheterization, oxytocin, placental discharge, and IV fluids.
  • Stabilized Bachu's vital signs and administered antibiotics to prevent infection.
  • Provided basic medical services to the newborn.

Despite losing her child, Bachu expressed gratitude for the care provided. The basic health infrastructure and timely intervention at the health post were crucial in preserving her life. This case highlights the importance of accessible healthcare services and the impact of the program in supporting vulnerable communities.

We are deeply grateful to you for your continued support. Your contributions enable us to provide essential services to those in need. We remain committed to our mission and will continue our efforts to improve health outcomes in remote areas.
