PHASE Nepal's ongoing Himalayan Healthcare initiative has been delivering essential primary healthcare and maternity services to remote regions, effectively responding to the challenges. The project endeavors to mitigate the risks associated with communicable diseases and promote better healthcare-seeking behavior through community and school-based initiatives aimed at enhancing health awareness and fostering sustained improvements in healthcare-seeking practices.
Sop Bahadur Gurung ( name changed) a 47 year old man, from Gorkha, Arughat 1, Dhunchet, has lots of responsibility towards his family since he is the eldest among his five brothers, he shoulders the weight of supporting his family. When faced with adversity, such as the accident that led to a severe finger injury on November 13, 2023, Sop turned to PHASE Health Center for aid.
Upon arrival, the PHASE healthcare team swiftly assessed his condition, providing immediate care and stabilization. Despite initial setbacks and referrals for further treatment in Kathmandu, Sop's belief in Ayurvedic remedies led him back home. However, complications arose, highlighting the importance of comprehensive medical care. Thankfully, the timely intervention of the PHASE team ensured that Sop received the necessary treatment, including surgery to address the infection.
Sop thanks to PHASE Nepal staff and says, “Thank you so much for the encouragement to come to the health post for treatment and thank you for support. I regret for delaying to come to the PHASE Health post relying on only Ayurvedic remedies.” His story is a testament to the impact of timely interventions and collaborative efforts in saving lives and fostering resilience within communities. Sop's gratitude shows the success of PHASE's mission in providing essential healthcare services and empowering individuals like him to overcome obstacles.
