Most of the young Deaf people of Nawalparasi are found to have zero access to educational, cultural, social and economic rights.NAD will provide 10 months NepaliSignLanguage(NSL) & literacy class for 20 deaf people of the district. In addition they'll be given the basic skills like they need to be part of the local Deaf Association and work together as a community to improve the lives of Deaf people within their area. They will be able do this by campaigning for local government fund for activities.
In Nepal thousands of Deaf people never have chance to gain an education or even to learn how to communicate. Many people living in the developing world don't have access to education & for the Deaf community, this then extends to the ability to learn a communicative language. The reason is there aren't taught sign language within a formal education setting along with peers. As a result, many individuals will go through life unable to make friends, share ideas, earn a living and live a normal life.
NAD conducts 10 months Nepali Sign language & literacy training to the Deaf adults. In addition teach participants to understand about Deaf society, culture, rights & deaf organizations. After the course has finished they will be able to communicate with other Deaf people using NSL and with the wider hearing community using an NSL interpreter. NAD will pay them for the expenses like transportation, stationery. They can become members of the Deaf organization and able to find better opportunities.
This project will solve the problem of communication barrier of Deaf people. They can communicate to each other through sign language which is their fundamental rights. They will engage with Deaf friends, various activities, associations then also aware and struggle for their rights as well as other necessities.By increasing the number of Deaf people who are members of the Deaf association supports to strengthen the Deaf community more generally, fight for equal rights and local government funding.
