Hi everyone!
We have some great news and a new challenge. The great news is that, thanks to the advice and input of experienced local leaders, we've improved our plans for the water tower and tank and are now completely confident that it's the best possible long-term solution for our needs. By increasing the tower height, adding a water filter, and buying a special UV-shielded water tank to protect against bacteria, we know we'll have a system that can provide clean, running water for our students and resident staff for a long, long time.
But here's the challenge: these necessary improvements naturally add some additional cost to this project, which is reflected in our new Funding Goal. The good news is, construction is already under way and, on March 14, we have a great opportunity to fully fund the rest of this project.
On Wednesday, March 14, and continuing all day, GlobalGiving.org is matching at 30% all online donations up to $1,000 per person, per project! There are $50,000 available in matching funds and matching stops when the funds run out, so don't wait until the end of the day to give. GlobalGiving is also offering a $1,000 bonus to the project that raises the most funds and a $1,000 bonus to the project that receives donations from the highest number of individual donors. That means:
You get the idea. : ) It's a great way to ensure your dollars have the greatest possible impact. In fact, if just 14 people give $100 on March 14 and it's matched at 30%, the water tower and filtered tank system will be fully funded.
(Note: Since the new desks for the students are fully paid for, we've changed the title of this project slightly to reflect our new focus on providing clean running water.) THANK YOU for your continued support! We can't wait to show you the finished results!
