Challenge

Thousands of orphans in Nigeria between the ages of 15 & 19 live on less than $1 a day. According to UNICEF, there are 153 million orphans worldwide with over 10% of the world's orphans in Nigeria alone. 95% of these orphans do not receive any type of medical, social or material assistance. As a result, up to 20% of orphans develop a serious disability. This is a very dangerous situation because without intervention, most orphans born into poverty will die in poverty.

Solution

By empowering orphans with skills, tools and knowledge to start a small business, skilled orphans will be able to generate income and live above the poverty line.

Long-Term Impact

This project will help reduce orphan poverty by creating a source of income for 100 orphans. These orphans will be able to afford enough food, basic healthcare and education on their own terms without waiting for aid.
