Thando is a grade 2 student at Mabhahhu Catholic Primary School. He lives with his grandfather and aunt. Both of them are unemployed and Thando’s family is enduring significant financial burdens now, so school meals are very important to him.
“The same as Lwandle, I also want to be a policeman. When I heard that someone tried to break into our school kitchen and stole food during this school term break, I really hope all criminals get caught every time and I want to put them in jail. Thank God that the criminals were not able to steal food this time because we have a new and strong kitchen now! My favorite food are rice and chicken and I am happy to tell you that my favorite food are quite safe in our new kitchen now. Thank you for your donation and support to give us a new and strong kitchen for us.”

Positive impact we made
I think we start to see the positive impact on the children and youth we have served. After the opening of the new school kitchen, we can provide school meals every school day either rainy or sunny day. Obviously, children will be attracted to go to school because they will be able to have one school meal which could be their only meal a day. Due to the poverty, most of households cannot provide meals to children a day.
We also received a good news from school that all grade 7th students have achieved a 100% pass rate in the external written examination recently. In all, all children made a great progress in their study even though none of them received Distinction or Merit. We believe that the new kitchen has indirect effects on children's educational attainment.
Furthermore, we also engaged and worked in solidarity with local communities through the new school kitchen opening. In the opening ceremony of the school kitchen, all kids of Mabhahhu Catholic Primary School first met the Chief of community at the first time, and it was also the first time of school visited by the elder community members since the school opened.
At the new year of 2020, we hope we could have enough resources to allow us to do more for children in Eswatini. We are glad to have you with us, and thank you again for your great support.
With gratitude,
Wen Hung
