Cultivating Character, Building Futures: A Spring

By Gabriela Popescu | Project Leader

Spring is a season of renewal, growth, and transformation—and for Te Aud Romania, the months of March through May 2025 marked a reaffirmation of our enduring mission: to support and empower young people through education, sports, and meaningful community engagement. Under the banner of the No Child Without Education project, we implemented a series of impactful initiatives designed to foster critical thinking, digital literacy, emotional resilience, and civic awareness among children and adolescents in vulnerable communities.

March 2025: Laying the Foundations of Awareness and Media Literacy

In March, our focus was twofold: raising awareness about human trafficking and equipping youth with essential media literacy skills.

  • A total of 20 children aged 14 participated in a human trafficking prevention workshop, where they learned to recognize warning signs, understand their rights, and build self-protective behaviors.
  • Simultaneously, 168 adolescents aged 14 to 18, all beneficiaries of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (D.G.A.S.P.C.) Suceava, engaged in media literacy workshops. These sessions were designed to develop their ability to critically evaluate information, identify misinformation, and navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

These activities were grounded in our belief that education must extend beyond the classroom to address the real-world challenges that young people face in an increasingly complex and interconnected society.

April 2025: Continuing the Fight Against Exploitation

In April, we continued our efforts to combat human trafficking by organizing another prevention workshop for 25 children aged 14. This session built upon the foundations laid in March, reinforcing key messages and expanding the reach of our protective education programming. The workshop emphasized empowerment through knowledge, encouraging participants to become advocates for safety and awareness within their peer groups.

May 2025: Digital Safety and Civic Engagement

May brought a shift in focus toward digital empowerment and civic education:

  • 75 children aged 11 and 12 took part in cybersecurity workshops, where they learned how to protect their personal data, recognize online threats, and use the internet responsibly. These workshops were particularly timely, given the increasing digitalization of education and social interaction.

  • In celebration of Europe Day, we supported the organization of the EPAS Competition at Colegiul Alexandru cel Bun, where 250 students aged 15 to 19 participated in a quiz-style event titled “The EU in Questions and Answers.” A total of 24 teams competed, demonstrating their knowledge of the European Union’s history, values, and institutions. This initiative not only promoted civic literacy but also fostered a sense of European identity and democratic participation among youth.

From combating human trafficking and misinformation to promoting digital safety and civic engagement, each initiative has contributed to our overarching goal: ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners, educators, and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we are not only growing character—we are building the future.
