What Apao looks like today

By Rebecca Chidley | Volunteer

Big Area - Big House
Big Area - Big House

Hello dear friends!

In today’s update I wanted to share with you some pictures of what the sanctuary currently looks like. There haven’t been any major changes in the last few months but we are constantly making small improvements to make it the best home possible to our beloved residents. We currently have 164 furry friends at the sanctuary spread out amongst the following areas:

Zen Garden – this area is for our cats with feline leukemia virus. It’s a quiet corner where 24 cats have a safe and quite place to live.

VIP – this is for special cases and currently housing just 2 cats.

Infirmary – the oldest or most sick cats are housed here, just 2 in this area as well.

Big Area – the largest of our cat zones is approximately 1,000 square meters in size and houses 85 cats. The area has a 50 square meter house with loft and covered porch, 2 smaller wooden houses, plus plenty of trees and lounging areas.

Special Area – is homes to delicate cases, new arrivals, extremely scared or nervous cats and is currently housing 14.

New Area - this area was built a few months ago for a group of 28 cats that needed to be rehoused. The residents here are quite antisocial and spend most of their time high up in the loft area or sunbathing on the roof.

Then there a sneaky few who prefer to roam freely around the sanctuary grounds but they never stray too far.

Well that's all for today folks! Thanks for reading and thank you to each and every one of you for donating to our cause.
