The Project will sensitize the community on Sexual Gender Based Violence Among Young Girls and Boys in Manyatta,Nyallenda and Obunga by giving remedies on how to deal with the problem and the steps to follow in case of an attempt by victim,Young Girls and Boys will be offered life skill training on defense mechanisms and how to raise alarm in case they are being violated,Building of their talents in theater and dance to enable them communicate on such issues using their talent for development.
Sexual violence is a serious public Health and Human Rights in Kenya,Its affects men and women,boys and girls and has adverse physical and psycho-social consequences on the survivor. Its the leading form of SGBV in the country and different reports indicates increasing incidences. The Kenya Violence against children servey 2010 shows that violence against children is a serious problem in Kenya,Levels of violence prior to age 18 indicate that children experience SGBV at home or in school.
Am not ripe project will sensitize young boys and girls on personal defense and life skills in relation to SGBV,this will entail activities that will bring and train them together on their Sexual Reproductive Health Rights championing for providing Information and education.This will see creation of SGBV Girls and Boys Champion Clubs in Schools and at Community Level.Their Parents and Guardians will also be taken through Skillful Parenting and Communal sensitization through theater and arts
The project will Educate 200 boys and Girls on their Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Personal Defense on Sexual Gender Based Violence(SGBV) to act as champions at school and Community Level.This will enable them train and sensitize fellow girls and boys with the quest of reducing their vulnerability at risk of SGBV.
