While all our eyes are focusing on the ongoing suffering in Gaza and Israel, I ask you not to forget the children in Aleppo. Years of war, paralysing international sanctions, Covid-19 and a massive earthquake have left millions of people in Syria out in the cold, homeless and with nowhere to turn to. Regardless of political beliefs, religious creeds, and polarising divisions, now is the time to help these people that have lost everything and have been living from one trauma to another tragedy.
Since the earthquake, life is even harder in Aleppo. The areas most affected are around Aleppo, and the Idlib province, considered the last opposition stronghold in Syria. Millions of people are displaced, some of them many times over. People have been living in camps or buildings damaged by the war and years of abandonment. The cost of living is rising exponentially, food is prohibitive to many and there is no work. Years of civil war has divided the country, now is the time to help everyone.
There is an immediate need especially for homes, food parcels, blankets, mattresses, children shoes and clothings, medical supplies, and much more to prevent as much suffering as possible. Your donations can help save lives. The low winter temperature add further misery to an already catastrophic situation. Our local partners have been active since the beginning of the war and have always helped and supported those most in need, regardless of differences. Children are our priority.
People don't know what to do, are tired and traumatised. They need anything, from clothing to food to accommodation. Before the earthquake, 86% of Syrian lived below the poverty line. This country has already suffered a lot because of the war and today, again, feels punished by the earthquake. The end of the cruel international sanctions would open up Syria to its future reconstruction. Your donations will help children survive and have hope for the future. Now is the time to help all Syrians.
