A girl’s education is strongly influenced by the support she receives at home. In communities where families face financial hardship and social pressures, parents may struggle to keep their daughters in school. Through the Keep Her in School Initiative, the Parents’ Education & Engagement Program works directly with parents and caregivers to turn families into active partners in protecting and advancing girls’ education.
The program creates opportunities for parent dialogues, family meetings, community sensitization sessions, and educational workshops where parents learn about the importance of girls’ education and the risks associated with school dropout. Discussions address challenges such as poverty, early pregnancy, child marriage, gender discrimination, household responsibilities, and limited access to basic school necessities.
This engagement is already helping shift the way communities view girls’ education. Parents are encouraged to listen to their daughters, recognize their educational needs, support regular school attendance, and make decisions that protect their future. Families are also equipped to identify early warning signs when a girl is at risk of dropping out and seek support before the situation becomes irreversible.
The impact goes beyond the classroom. When a parent chooses education over early marriage, supports a daughter through difficult circumstances, or encourages her to continue learning, an entire future can change. Educated and empowered girls are better positioned to contribute to their families, communities, and the wider economy.
Your support does more than educate a parent—it strengthens a family, protects a girl’s future, and helps create a community where every girl has the opportunity to stay in school and achieve her dreams.
