Psychosocial Support Circles: Helping Children Heal, Belong, and Thrive

By Naijuka aggie | Project leader

For many children living in vulnerable rural communities, the challenges they face go beyond poverty. Some have experienced the loss of parents, family separation, neglect, abuse, displacement, or prolonged hardship. Without a safe place to express their feelings, these experiences can affect their confidence, relationships, learning, and ability to build a hopeful future.

Through the Nurture 200 Children Program, F SSIBU Mission Foundation creates safe and supportive Psychosocial Support Circles where children can talk, listen, connect, and begin to heal. These child-friendly spaces bring children together in small groups under the guidance of trained mentors and trusted adults, allowing them to express emotions without fear of judgment.

The circles use age-appropriate activities such as guided conversations, storytelling, games, creative expression, peer interaction, and confidence-building exercises. Children learn that their experiences do not define their future and that they are not alone in facing difficult circumstances.

The impact goes beyond emotional support. When children feel heard and valued, they are more likely to regain confidence, participate actively in school, build healthier relationships, and develop the resilience needed to overcome adversity.

For donors, supporting psychosocial support means investing in something that cannot be measured only by school materials or financial assistance: a child's ability to heal, believe in themselves, and hope again.

Through Nurture 200, we aim to ensure that vulnerable children receive not only the necessities to stay in school, but also the emotional care and supportive relationships they need to thrive.

Your support can help create a safe space where a hurting child finds a listening ear, a caring mentor, renewed confidence, and the courage to dream again.
