Nurture Community Rehabilitation Report Mar 2025

By Sakshi Kumar | Program Manager Fundraising & Partnerships

The One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF) is a grassroots non-profit whose mission is to create better futures for the underserved rural communities of Anekal Taluk,  in the outskirts of Bangalore.

The Nurture Community Rehabilitation Program is an initiative by One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF) that supports some of the most severely marginalized communities in Anekal, Bengaluru. By focusing on education, healthcare, sanitation, and vocational training, Nurture aims to uplift these communities and empower them to break free from cycles of poverty and social exclusion.

Through dedicated interventions such as our Learning Centre, sports-based life skills program, healthcare clinics, and sanitation awareness initiatives, we are working towards sustainable development and self-reliance for these vulnerable populations.

OBLF’s Nurture Program Interventions
Education & Bridge Learning

  • Our Learning Centre prepares out-of-school children for mainstream education, helping them overcome language and literacy barriers.

Healthcare Access

  • Weekly health clinics in the tribal community and monthly clinics in Heelalige provide preventive and primary healthcare, eye care, and mental health services.
  • Community members receive medicines and treatment for chronic illnesses, reducing health disparities.

Sports-Based Life Skills Program

  • Ultimate Frisbee & Football empower youth with leadership, teamwork, and gender equality skills.
  • The program fosters confidence, discipline, and social cohesion.

Sanitation & Infrastructure

  • Awareness programs encourage better hygiene practices and improve living conditions.
  • Access to sanitation facilities reduces health risks in both communities.
