Malnutrition and poor sanitation have become the most serious public health problems and possibly leading cause of deaths whether directly or indirectly. The most vulnerable groups in this regard are children between ages of six and five years, younger infants, older children, adolescents, pregnant women, breastfeeding women and other adults are affected. Unsafe water, along with low sanitation and hygiene represent the leading cause of death in developing countries.
The problem is serious public health due to lack of nutritious food intake lack of proper sanitation and hygiene facilities at household level.In Kagera region every 100 pregnant women, 53 out of them have blood insufficiency and in every 100 born children, 16 of of them have less weight and 42& have stunted. This have caused deaths and retardation of Kagera region development. This project will affect almost 6000 people who are facing these challenges
This project will offer meaningful and sustainable solutions to malnutrition issues and lack of sanitation and hygiene issue by offering skills and best sanitation practices to community members to solve food and health issues.3600 households will be able to access nutritious food and knowledge. Awareness campaign will be conducted to three districts on sanitation issues and various training will be conducted on rain water harvesting,proper use and managements and improved sanitation facilities
The project will provide access to information to all people through information centre established, 3600 household will be able to understand gender roles and value of women in household development an abolish harm practices that limit community development.The project will increase nutritional food intake and proper use of sanitation facilities and increase school performance as girl students will be proved with sanitary pads and taught how to make re usable hygienic facilities.
