Yeryuzu Doktorlar started its active activities in Somalia as a result of the severe food crisis that emerged with the drought called the Horn of Africa Crisis and affected Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya in July 2011. Since then, 3 nutrition health centers have been opened and primary health care, nutrition health, laboratory and pharmaceutical support services have been being providing.
Somalia is one of the top countries in the world experiencing a humanitarian crisis due to internal conflicts, prolonged droughts and floods since the mid-90s. The Somali people have been adversely affected by the prolonged drought due to insufficient rainfall in 2016 and 2017, more than 6.4 million people in need of urgent humanitarian assistance in all areas.
Yeryuzu Doktorlar established Sifa Hospital in Somalia, providing free healthcare to over 100,000 people. Through nutrition centers, thousands received examinations and treatment. In 2018, a Birth Center offered prenatal and postnatal services to women. Mobile health services were launched in Galmudug. As of 2023, activities continue in Mogadishu with a 15-person team, reaching over 295,000 people in total.
Tens of thousands of examinations, surgeries, nutritional treatment and delivery services will be added to the existing ones, thus preventable deaths cases and diseases incidence among the population who have problems accessing health services will decrease
