ODTU GELECEGIMIZ FUND-TOUCH THE LIFE OF SOMEBODY

''The Project of METU OUR FUTURE is a special project that touched our lives providing oppurtunities for the students who have 

succeeded in entering ODTÜ, one of the top 85 universities in the world, but whose financial means are limited.It is a project  
where METU graduates give mentorship support to us ,the scholars, from career planning, internship to job opportunities ,

and thus we get the opportunity to get one step more nearer to our dreams.For example, I have had the change to do internship
in ISDEMIR and ROKETSAN which are one of the best institutions of their fields thanks to Hayati KÖSEOGLU ve Mert AKKUS

with whom I met by means of Grandpa Arif.Grandpa Arif and Aunt Filiz ( Mrs Filiz  is Mr Arif Aygündüz's wife and  we all call 
them as Grandpa and Aunt)  comes to ODTU campus al least   four times in a year and they bring valued graduates together with 
 them.In these meetings which last at least 4 days, there occurs good dialogues among the scholarship donors who are graduates

of METU, working in international medium-sized and large-scale companies and us, the scholars.Last month, we gathered in
a dinner organized in Istanbul with participation of 120 graduates and we talked about our plans about future.I will be graduated
this year and I will be a female engineer graduate of METU who can stand on her own feet and have accepted the values of METU
as I have always wanted.Thanks for everything''

''Hi
My name is Murat TUGASAYGI, I have been working in professional business life  (including last 9 years in LG Electronics

- Turkey) since I was finished the METU Electric and Electronic Engineering faculty in 1989. I met with Arif Aygunduz in 2008,
 actually he found me through my friend from METU. When he shared his projects face to face in detail, I really impressed and 
joined to project as donor.But with the question in my mind “Is the collected money going to right people? I think all donors 
have more or less same question in their mind due to many bad examples, we have seen in our life. There should be some 
evidence and/or cases that all these hesitating should overcome other than report and some statistical data.Then, we have started 
 to meet in “year-end dinner” annually with concept of “having a dinner together” with donors and scholarship students. We had
a chance to meet and listen their stories, expectations from future directly from their side. I think this is the best part for me and

other donors to to convinced that we are helping to the right people through Arif bey, not only for helping to that students and
also future of world.These students are selected ones, and almost all of them are in honor list of university.They are also good 
example in society that if you are successful and need to be supported, someone will help you”. The most important part for me
is “they know what they need and how to reach their target”, because 95% of people in world, they don’t know what they don't
know,4% they know that they don’t know, and only 1% know, what they know”. So, I believe these people are top 5% and future
needs this kind of people. I had also chance to have open communication and share my experience with this students in university. 
This is also good chance for them to listen experienced people advice, recommendation for their future.Finally, I really thank to
Arif bey for leading such a great project, through his window, we have a chance to touch these people. I am really proud to be 
.a donor for this project.
