Eight years ago, SERUDS established the Shelter Home for Elders with the vision of providing a safe, caring, and dignified living environment for abandoned senior citizens—especially elderly women who have been neglected by their families or left without support. What began as a small home for five elderly women has now grown into a dependable sanctuary for 20 destitute and homeless senior citizens, aged between 60 and 90 years, from rural villages across Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

At the SERUDS Elderly Home, residents receive nutritious meals three times a day, including traditional breakfast, balanced lunch, and light dinner. Many of the seniors suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure, and joint pains. To address their health needs, we provide timely medical care, daily medications, insulin support when required, and regular checkups every 15 days with qualified senior health specialists. Our team also ensures that residents receive essential supplies such as fresh towels, bedsheets, and toiletry kits to maintain their hygiene and comfort.

Beyond their physical needs, we focus on emotional well-being. Many of these seniors arrive with painful memories of neglect, abandonment, and loneliness. To help them heal, we encourage them to participate in yoga, simple exercises, storytelling, and group interactions, allowing them to rebuild confidence and rediscover joy. Over time, they begin to feel secure, supported, and connected—no longer burdened by thoughts of their past struggles or separation from their families.
