Sarahuaro, A.C. has provided thousands of meals to elementary school-age children who would otherwise have gone hungry at school. We believe in the long-term effects of education. Providing a healthy meal is a simple way to help strengthen a child's chances of having a successful life. "La Cocina de los Ninos Sarahuaro" addresses this health problem based on a long history of feeding children living in poverty, thus applying our experience to the school environment.
1.5 million Mexican children suffer from malnutrition and 2 million children under the age of five are anemic. An overwhelming percentage of children in the country are not provided with a healthy foundation from which to grow, succeed, and overcome poverty.
Your donation will buy nutritious food to feed healthy meals to 350 children. Our goal is to keep our program strong. Have accomplished that goal, plus more beneficiaries have added to our program. Sarahuaro supported them to overcome the overwhelming circumstances of the pandemic.
Since the start of COVID the lockdown in March, we expanded our feeding program to entire families- we have fed 180 families with an estimated 350 children.
