1 in 3 children in Sudan and South Sudan is illiterate due to lack of education resources. As part of our 1 million books of hope campaign, we have 100,000 books ready to ship. We are donating these books and helping stock 50 school libraries for use by students and the community. We are also setting up 3 public libraries where we will deliver literacy programs, teacher instruction, run workshops around entrepreneurship, personal hygiene, nutrition, physical and mental health for war victims.
Btn 2011 - 2015, 100 of 141 schools were flattened In the Nuba Mountains, Sudan by continuing civil war. Today, there are 265 schools but 95% have poorly trained teachers, don't have books to teach with or for students to read. Moreover, many students have to walk 1.5 to 2 hours to and from school daily often without food or water to drink. With this project we'll ship 1 million books to schools, run literacy programs, train 1000 teachers, and acquire land to grow food to feed 2880 children.
We work with beneficiary schools to donate books and help them develop a tailored teaching curriculum. We have plans for 3 Libraries where we'll be running reading and writing programs for students and the community, training teachers and running workshops around personal, mental and reproductive health. We'll also purchase a subplot to grow food to feed 960 children per catchment village, this removes inequality and inequity allowing the poorest kids to focus their attention towards learning.
Books are magical; they Delight, Educate, Empower and Inspire. Each page gives hope to children by allowing them the freedom to dream a future whose potential is limitless. The result is an empowered, self sustaining, and thriving communities through holistic education. Our programs will empower 750,000 children and their families to learn to read and write, create jobs, feed, and teach families how to look after their mental health and well-being. Its how we change the world one book at a time
